Microsoft Surface 2 Price Drops $100.

  • Author:Andrew
  • Release on :2014-08-26

Microsoft lowered the price of the entry-level Surface 2 tablet to $349, a 22% reduction.

Microsoft Surface 2A $100 cut in price was applied to all three versions of this device, not just the one with 32 GB of internal storage that previously sold for $449. As a result, the 64 GB model is now $449, and the one with 64 GB of storage and built-in 4G LTE is $579.

Unlike the now-discontinued Surface Pro 2, the tablet runs Windows 8.1 RT rather than the standard version of Windows. Still, it comes with Microsoft Office 2013 and has a 10.6-inch display.

Looking Ahead to the Surface 3

The Surface 2 was released last fall, and this price decrease could be a sign that a replacement is coming, especially as the Surface Pro 2, which was introduced at the same time, has already been supplanted by the Surface Pro 3.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the upcoming Surface 3 will keep the 10.6-inch screen, but have a slimmer build and weigh less than the current one. It’s also expected to have a faster processor.

Microsoft is supposedly going to unveil Windows 9 on September 30, and an RT version of the Surface 3 could also debut around the same time.
