The Lenovo Group has separated its mobile business unit by brand, with its vice president Zhang Hui responsible for global sales of Lenovo brand smartphones, while vice president Collin Giles, a former executive of Nokia, will handle global sales of Motorola smartphones, according to a China-basedit.sohu.com report.

The two brands will complement each other on the global front but will tend to engage in more competition in the home market, said the report.

Sales of Lenovo-brand smartphones in China will count more on the Internet, using online shopping website JD.com as a major platform. Including sales through the online platform, Lenovo aims to sell up to 10 million units of its newly release entry-level to mid-range model, the Lenovo K3 Note, in 2015, Zhang said.

Meanwhile, Lenovo (Motorola) has teamed up with e-commerce operators in India to promote sales in the market, taking on directly Xiaomi Technology, said the paper.
