HMI Profit slips to loss in April

  • Author:Abby
  • Release on :2015-05-27

IFollowing various Taiwan-based media outlets reporting market watchers' optimistic earnings forecasts for Hermes Microvision (HMI), which has recently boosted the share price of the e-beam inspection equipment provider significantly, HMI has been requested by Taiwan's GreTai (over-the-counter) Securities Market to release its unaudited earnings results for April 2015.

Media outlets including Commercial Times, Economic Daily News (EDN), Apple Daily and Liberty Timesrecently quoted unspecified market sources as saying in recent reports that HMI will post substantial growth starting the second quarter, and impressive results for all of 2015.

HMI, however, has announced net losses of NT$180 million (US$5.88 million) for April 2015. Net EPS came to negative NT$2.54. The company attributed the loss to a fall in revenues during the month, as well as the recent sharp NT dollar appreciation resulting in exchange losses of about NT$90 million.

In addition, HMI responded to recent Chinese-language reports predicting its 2015 results as saying the company has not given its forecast for the year.

HMI's share price fell NT$50 or 2% to close at NT$2,365 on the local bourse on May 26, after soaring NT$120 or 5% the previous day.
